In this interactive special session, we lead participants through a facilitated conversation and exploration of some of the factors accounting for these differences. Using a framework drawn from the theory of gender schemas, implicit association, micro-messaging, privilege, and self-efficacy, we both describe and demonstrate ways in which environment can shape experience. Participants will leave equipped with a set of tools and materials intended to facilitate further conversation at their home institutions.
