Klaus worked in medical technology research & development for over 25 years. For 7 years he was the CIO of one of the largest Australian healthcare corporations. The interoperability and management of disparate health information systems and their data is his ongoing focus. Klaus has held appointments at Federation and LaTrobe Universities, is an Adj. Associate Professor at Western Sydney University and a Fellow of AIDH/ACHI and HL7. Klaus researches factors determining health data and interoperability standards adoption & the impact of evidence-based professional expert advice on society.
Ruth’s interest in the phenomenon of professions and professionalism was sparked in the early 2000s where she undertook a “Can we Educate for Professionalism?” project for the emergent financial planning profession. She then gained a PhD at the Work-based Learning Institute, Middlesex University UK entitled “From the intransitive to the transitive – emerging the Australian tax profession as a profession in its own right”. With over 25 years in executive roles in education with 20 of those years spent in membership bodies for a wide range of professions Ruth has gained a deep insight into the ethics and best practices of professionals.
