16:00 – 16:30 ARC funding: Crisis, what crisis?

The results from the most recent ARC Discovery grants have causes alarm, with only 11% of proposals being successful. This is compared to 19% last year, 17% the year before and 31% the year before that for a similar number of applications. We think it’s time to have a serious chat ….. come along and have your say.

All HODS and Profs
16:30 – 18:00 The future of CORE and ACDICT

Currently we have two organisations, CORE and ACDICT that have overlapping missions and membership, although differences in activities and focus areas.

The purpose of this session is to discuss a proposal being put forward by Ann Nicholson, Monash’s Dean of the Faculty of IT, to look at how the two organisations (and perhaps others) might join forces, pool resources, consolidate and amplify their activities, and become a stronger advocacy organisation for our discipline with government and industry.

All Heads are strongly urged to attend this session, in person or virtually, to contribute to this discussion. A discussion paper will be circulated prior to the meeting.
