INVITATION TO ATTEND

We invite you to join us for the 2023 Australasian Computer Science Week (ASCW).

Monash University, Caulfield Campus, Melbourne, 31 January – 3 February 2023

ACSW is the premier event for Computer Science researchers across Australasia, organised under the governing auspices of Computing Research and Education (CORE) Association of Australasia.

2023 will be the first opportunity for our communities to come together in the one location since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such the conference is planned to be a physical event, and we encourage authors to travel to Melbourne to deliver their talk, and network with delegates in-person.

Given this is the first physical ACSW since 2020, we are excited to be working with a particular focus on maximising the opportunity for networking and discussion amongst attendees.

More information regarding invited speakers and programmed events will be released via the website as planning proceeds. We encourage you to check the website regularly for updates.

CORE STUDENT TRAVEL AWARDS

Please note that CORE will provide partial Funding Grants for students authors who have papers accepted to ACSW 2023 and who will be presenting their work at the conference. Conditions apply, including that the students must be enrolled at a CORE member institution.

Criteria and application

If a paper’s first author is a full-time student studying at a CORE member institution, has done the bulk of the work embodied in the paper, and will be presenting the paper, that author is invited to apply for a CORE Student Travel Award by completing the form at:

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES CURRICULUM WORKSHOP at ACSW

Hosted by Grok Academy, this workshop will focus on reviewing the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies and how the design of undergraduate curricula does (and might) respond to the capabilities of students who have been exposed to the full curricula.

Who should attend?

  • Academics with responsibility for teaching computer science/software engineering across our tertiary institutions – ie Deputy Head of School/Department (Teaching/Education), Undergraduate Directors or first year coordinators.
  • University staff who are engaged in outreach to schools or high school students within the school/dept/faculty.
  • Secondary teachers

ACSW consists of several conferences covering a wide range of Computer Science topics. The annual conference is attended by many national and international delegates comprising HDR students, distinguished academics and Industry representatives from across Australasia in computer science.

ABOUT CORE

The Computing Research and Education Association of Australasia, CORE, is an association of university departments of computer science in Australia and New Zealand. Prior to 2004 it was known as the Computer Science Association, CSA.

The purposes for which the Association is established are:

  • to create a professional association of those engaged in computer science and information technology in higher education and research institutes and to facilitate their professional development;
  • to assist and advance research in computer science and information technology in higher education and research institutes;
  • to assist and advance teaching in computer science and information technology in higher education;
  • to provide a forum for those interested in computer science and information technology so as to stimulate discussion of relevant issues; and
  • to promote co-operation and liaison with other groups and organizations which have related or complementary purposes and activities.
